Take Me Somewhere Else
I’m sure it’s no best kept secret that I’m an atheist. Although, I don’t label myself as one. I believe in things. Just not things most other people believe in. For instance…I believe the Egyptians were the first to rule any part of this planet only because they’re aliens. Prove me wrong. Do I believe in a God that’s omnipotent? No, I don’t. I just find it odd that all the miracles like walking on water, parting the sea, and building a huge boat at 900 years of age only happened two thousand years ago and haven’t been repeated since. Besides, I have a rule…pictures, or it didn’t happen.
I’ve read the Bible. Twice. The first time was because I ran out of books to read while I was in the Air Force. So I started reading my roommates Bible. I picked it up the second time when I was on a 10 hour plane ride and, like a dork, I forgot to bring something to read. So the flight attendant brought me the Bible to read. I skipped the silly parts and started reading the meat and potatoes. She let me keep the book so I spent the next few months digging in and truly understood how all of those who follow the life of the Holy are getting it all wrong. They only listen to what they want to hear, read what they want to read, and interpret the Bible to win their required fight. I get it. The book will give you strength when warranted, but so will the “Game of Thrones” series if you heed the sage advise of Tyrion Lannister.
The reason I bring this up is because I got into a Twitter altercation with someone who thought she was godly. I felt compelled to put her in her place since she had no idea what she was talking about, but acted like she did.
The whole scene played out since Hurricane Irma hit the Caribbean with a huge force damaging Donald “Liar In Chief” Trump’s $17 million dollar mansion on the French side of the Caribbean. It’s called “The French Caribbean”. The United States has no jurisdiction in that part. Therefore, Trump’s mansion isn’t going to be covered by FEMA. I’m sure he has insurance on the place, but he’ll have to go through the French channels to get reparations.
She (the lady on Twitter) informed me that I seemed a bit too happy about this fact and that HER God (she told me she owned him…like luggage, or something) would not allow her to be happy for someone else’s misfortune. I let her go on and on. She seemed like she need to get her anger out today and I didn’t mind being a temporary landing pad. When she finished, I had to educate her on how HER God didn’t like greedy bastards. She was confused for a bit, so I continued by telling her that even Jesus Christ would cut a bitch if they wronged him. This lady wouldn’t hear of it. No where in the good book does it say any of this. I confirmed that she’d read the Bible. She insisted she knew it backward and forward.
Turns out…she didn’t know HER God, or the instruction manual to the very religion she’d been practicing all of these years. I’ll have to give credit where credit is due. Say what you want about Muslims…they know their Qur’an. Our “Christian” people don’t know half of what their own book says. Take the story of Ananias and his wife in Acts 5: 1-11…..
Dude was greedy and embezzled. Sapphira lied for him, so that made her complicit. According to Peter, that made room for Satan and that wasn’t going to happen. So God struck down from the heavens and killed them both. Easy. When I showed the lady on Twitter what HER God did as described in his own book, she dropped the entire subject. I haven’t heard from her since. The last tweet I sent to her was “this same condition could be directed toward Joel Osteen. It’s all greed when you strip away the wallpaper.”
So, yeah. I was happy his place got the wrath of THEIR God via Hurricane Irma. I may not believe in God, but I do believe in Karma. And I believe that I should be happy when someone gets exactly what they deserve…good or bad.
